300 reasons I would vote for used gym socks if it would keep John McCain out of office

Reason #108

Indulge me in worshipping the cuteness of my niece.

Seriously though…  If her insane adorability isn’t enough to convince you to vote for Obama, think about what kind of world our kids will be living in under a McCain-Palin administration.  I want this beautiful baby to have a clean environment.  I want her to have equal pay and reproductive justice.  I don’t want her to go off to fight some stupid war that never ends.  I want her to grow up in a country where we value freedom and civil liberties.

McCain-Palin are going to take us down a very dark road if they manage to win this thing, and I don’t want to have to explain to my kids that I let it happen.

As has been mentioned here before, McCain is really damn old. In fact, according to biostatprof:

Using the National Center for Health Statistics Life tables for 2004, I calculate there is a 14% chance that a 72 year old white male will die in the next 4 years.

There are also studies that show that POWs don’t live as long as other people, by the way.

Why does this matter?

I missed this the first time I watched the green monster speech, on account of passing out from the boredom…

What kind of sick person wants to scald poor, defenseless, dehydrated babies?

Oh, I’m sorry! Did you say something? I dozed off for a second there…

That’s not change we can believe in.

McCain proclaims that he will “win in January.”

Maybe I should cut him some slack. The guy is eleventy-billion and three. He just wants to watch Wheel of Fortune and take a nap! How can he be expected to know when the election is?

As an opponent of the occasional thing, I find this recent statement by McCain incredibly offensive:

“I condemn remarks that are in any way viewed as anti-anything.”

Could this potentially senile remark have anything to do with the fact that McCain is older than penicillin? We may never know.

The Children’s Defense Fund Action Council has listed John McCain as the worst Senator for children. Why?

Here’s what he voted against (or didn’t bother to show up for):

1. Increase funding for children with disabilities (S. Con. Res. 21)
2. Protect children from unsafe medications (S. 1082)
3. 2008 Budget resolution (S. Con. Res. 21)
4. SCHIP Reauthorization (H.R. 976)
5. College Cost Reduction and Access Act (H.R. 2669)
6. SCHIP (H.R. 976 – motion to concur)
7. DREAM Act (S. 2205)
8. Funding child health and education (H.R. 3043)
9. Improving Head Start programs (H.R. 1429)

He also missed 80% of votes pertaining to children.

If there’s one issue we should all be able to agree on, it’s children. They don’t deserve to suffer for the mistakes us grown-ups make, and they deserve to have access to every opportunity we can give them. Votes like this show just how out of touch with the mainstream of America John McCain really is.

From the “are you fucking serious?” file…

As recently as the year 2000, McCain felt just fine about using racial slurs. In front of the media. As in the case of him calling his wife a c***, you’ve gotta wonder—what does he do when journalists are not around?

Ahem—from a March 2000 Seattle Post Intelligencer article:

On his campaign bus recently, Sen. John McCain told reporters, “I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live.”

Charming.
